Recommendations
Scan all photos in color (even black and white images).
Save as high quality jpeg format. Scan at 300 - 600 dpi (dot per inch).
Do not make any adjustments (brightness/contrast etc..) to the photos during or after scanning.
If you don't have a scanner you could go to a copy center like
Kinko's, and have them scan it for you.

How do I get my photos onto my computer?

You must first scan your photos onto your hard drive or CD using a scanner, or transfer pictures from your digital camera to your computer.

If you do not have the ability to scan the photo, you can simply take it to a Kinko's Copy Center and they will help you scan the image to CD.

Make sure you tell them to scan it for output at 300 dpi (dots per inch) and save it to CD at a JPEG / high quality format setting.

How should I scan the original photo to send to you?
Just scan it at 300 dpi (dots per inch) with RGB output.
Then save as, high quality JPEG format setting.
You can then attach the scan to your email or place the picture on CD and
mail using a
postal service of your choice.

If you are unable to obtain a good scan following the above instructions you can take your photo to a copy shop
(Kinko's) and have them do it for you.
Provide them with the instructions above and ask them to save it on a CD, in RGB format using 300dpi (dots per inch ).
Then send the CD to us for restoration.

I know how to use a scanner.
In the preview window, select just the photo (no white showing around the photo).
Choose the color photo setting (even for black and white photos).
Turn all enhancements off.
Set resolution quality to high photo quality, 300 or 600 DPI.
Save the file as a high quality JPEG or TIFF.
